A message from the Head of School
Welcome to the Greater Houlton Christian Academy website! This is an exciting time for the school as it enters its 27th year of ministry to Christian families in the County. We recently have been awarded a ten-year term of accreditation from both the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). This makes GHCA the only school in Maine with dual accreditation with both of these organizations. Accreditation means you can have confidence in the educational quality of the school. It also means that we are now formally committed to an ongoing process of improvement.
At the Academy, we are serious about fulfilling our mission of offering a solid academic education that is anchored in the traditional biblical worldview. This Christian perspective shapes not only the content of our instruction but also how we "live it out." It shapes the atmosphere and culture of our school because Christianity is not just about how and what we think - but how we actually live, how we actually treat others. Of course, this means that we are a "work in progress" that will always be striving to meet these goals.

About our Website
Our website is designed to serve two purposes. First, it is meant to provide valuable information to prospective students and their parents about the many services and benefits GHCA offers in the area of Christian Education. This information includes a promotional video, downloadable forms and handbooks, an excellent overview of our programs, philosophy, and mission, and resources for further inquiry. Explore what we have to offer using the navigation menu to the left of this text.
The second purpose of this website is to provide up-to-date information to currently enrolled students and their families, both local and distant. Our homepage is similar to the front page of a newspaper, in that it contains the "headlines" of what's happening at GHCA. This page changes often, and parents should frequently check it. Our teacher blogs are provided as a means for teachers to communicate with their own students and families regarding classroom activities, special events, upcoming projects, and topics related to their field of expertise. The calendars page provides dynamic and detailed information of upcoming school events, sport schedules, and exam schedules. Teachers also have the ability to create their own classroom calendars. SURRAnet is our student information system, and the website link provides parents with instant access to academic, conduct, and attendance reports.
Our website is currently undergoing a rebuild. While the most important sections are completed, there are other sections that are in the process of being rebuilt. This takes time since each department must meet with the webmaster and provide necessary material for their section. You may find some links "dead end", and this is why. Please be patient with us as we work this year to finalize these sections, and always feel free to email the office or the department head to find out more about areas of interest to you.
