What do you do for fun?
It has been a busy time for our family with our move and my wife settling into her new position, but there is nothing more fun then just hanging out with my children, Sam and Hannah, and my wife , Heidi. We enjoy eating out and visiting with family.
What books or books have you recently read?
I am currently reading textbooks to keep up with my students:) In Teaching to Change Lives by Howard Hendricks , I am learning the seven principles of teaching. That should help with my students here. I've also read the biography of D.L. Moody. He was totally wrapped up in pleasing the Lord Jesus. Seeing the orphans on the streets of Chicago moved him to respond with compassion.
How did you spend the summer?
I spent my summer moving from Ottawa, Ontario, where we lived for five years while Heidi did her training as a radiologist. This coming summer, I'd like to spend time reclaiming the family farm we live on, planting fruit trees and clearing old pasture land. We have three goats but would like to add a few cows.
Of what church are you a member and in what ministries do you participate?
My home church is Woodstock Baptist in Woodstock , NB. I am a grade two teacher along with Heidi. It's interesting ; I'm teaching my high school friends' children. Time goes by SO fast.
Do you have a life verse? Why have you adopted it?
Romans 12:1,2 are what come to mind. I love these verses because they are so practical . God wants my body , holy and just, ready to obey Him. I don't have to “do anything” to be accepted by Him. He just wants me! It is a great promise to know God's will. Here , in verse 2, we discover how to renew our minds but sometimes we choose the “good” when we could have the “best”.
What have you done recently to better yourself professionally?
I have just finished an internship with Canadian Revival Fellowship,. I will be traveling to Regina in October to join them as an associate team member to preach the revival message. In all I do , I want to glorify God , take up my cross and follow Him doing well as a teacher and serving as a worthy example.
What makes you want to get up in the morning?
I am up first, helping the family prepare for the day. Since Heidi's work schedule is very demanding, I am determined to do anything I can to make our transition smooth.
What do you like about GHCA?
The students are awesome as far as I can tell so far. The teachers are godly and want to see Christ glorified which is the key to any Christian organization.
If you could design your dream school, what would it look like?
One that met together on a regular basis to pray for revival in the school (student body and faculty). Prayer must be a foundational key to our school.
