WHAT IS CHRISTIAN EDUCATION ALL ABOUT?

Christian education is about the spiritual formation of children. We take this seriously at GHCA.

The road to spiritual maturity is a long one, but it is a good one. Here at GHCA, we direct every aspect of our work toward the student's spiritual and academic maturity. We understand it is a process that requires time, individual attention, love, instruction and discipline. Our teachers are men and women who love the students and are here because they are called to this ministry.

Greater Houlton Christian Academy is a loving, caring environment that is best suited to develop spiritual and moral values in the lives of our young people.

It is a privilege for us to assist parents in this journey we call "parenting." We know at times it seems more like a battle. This is because the secular worldview does not acknowledge Biblical teaching in training children. Proverbs 22:6 says..."Train up a child in the way he should go... ." We help the church and the family to do that.

OUR MISSION

GHCA exists to educate the mind for knowledge and to enlighten the spirit for wisdom in order to empower the next generation of godly leaders who will impact the world for Jesus Christ.. This is best accomplished when it is done in a cooperative partnership with the student's home and church. At the Academy we are "Teaching Minds, Touching Hearts."

ADMISSION

Enrollment at Greater Houlton Christian Academy is obtained by written application, testing, and personal interview. A child should be five years old on or before October 15^th to be eligible for kindergarten. The Academy is not currently equipped to enroll students who have severe behavioral problems or who are significantly limited in academic ability. Students in grades 5 through 12 must also have a personal interview. All students will be tested for proper grade placement.

AFFILIATION

Greater Houlton Christian Academy is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). ACSI offers a variety of services like curricular materials, accreditation and certification, student assessment, legal and legislative support, conventions, and student activities to enable our program.

CURRICULUM

The Greater Houlton Christian Academy's pre K and Kindergarten Programs are designed to prepare students for success in the elementary years. We offer a delightful, loving and secure environment so critical for the child's first year of school. Academic training includes numbers, phonics, reading, writing, science and Bible. Time is also spent in art classes, music, computer training, sharing and playtime. Kindergarten is a full day program.

Greater Houlton Christian Academy's Elementary Program spans grades 1 through 6. A traditional curriculum is used consisting of phonics, reading, language, spelling, writing, penmanship, math, history, geography, science, and Bible. Classes in music, instrument, band, physical education, and library are offered. Time is also spent in choir, aerospace science, art, computer literacy, nursing home ministry and recess. By the time he or she has finished sixth grade, the education the student has received at GHCA enables the student to succeed academically and spiritually in high school, college, and in work. Loving and concerned Christian teachers, the best available curricula and high academic and spiritual standards are the cornerstones of our foundation.
