PRE-K AND KINDERGARTEN

SPECIFICALLY FOR PRE-K

Drop-off / Dismissal

Parents are asked to bring their child to the classroom in the morning and return to pick them up by 11:30. Students will be dismissed individually when the parent has arrived. If someone other than Mom or Dad is picking them up please notify the teacher.

Field Trips

Share your ideas throughout the school year !

Food

Students will need one snack and one lunch. These will be kept in their cubbie until needed.

Graduation

PreK students will have their closing program on the Thursday before Memorial Day.

Recess

After the first snowfall recess will be inside.

Show & Tell

PreK students will have show & tell once each month.

SPECIFICALLY FOR KINDERGARTEN

Community service

Choir students will be singing at the hospital or nursing homes approximately once every six weeks.

Drop-off / Dismissal

Parents are encouraged to bring their child to their locker in the morning and then give a kiss at the classroom door before leaving. Parents must be in the hall outside the classroom at 2:20 to pick up their child. Children will be dismissed individually when parents arrive. Notes should be sent with your child if someone other than a parent is picking up the child.

Field Trips

Kindergarten students will enjoy a field trip to the Apple Orchard in the fall and we welcome suggestions for other trips from you throughout the year!

Food

Students will need two snacks in addition to their lunch each day. Students may have the option of buying their lunch or bringing their own.

Graduation

Kindergarten graduation is held the day after Memorial Day.

Learning to Read

A parent meeting will held in December with suggestions on how to assist your child in reading at home with their A Beka reading books.

Library

Students will walk to the Cary Library once each week rain or shine. Umbrellas will be kept in the classroom.

Rest time

Students are given a rest time each day. A forty-five minute rest time at the beginning of the year will be reduced to 15 or 20 by the end of the school year. Students may bring their favorite blanket and/or pillow and stuffed animal.

Show & Tell

Friday is Show & Tell day!

Weather

Once the snow arrives students will need ski-pants, boots, hat and mittens every day! Students will go outside for lunch recess unless the wind chill is at 0 or below.
