GHCA's Points of Distinction for 2008-2009

The Board of Directors and the Administration of GHCA has just completed the work of a Five Year Strategic Plan. This plan will shortly be made available in its entirety on this website. One of the two strategies in this plan is to "Enhance our educational programs in order to create an environment of academic excellence." GHCA desires to maintain a learning environment that fosters academic excellence while encouraging dialogue and understanding as to how a biblical worldview interprets and affects the academic point of view and personal lifestyle.

In keeping with the mission of the school and striving to excel, the following "Points of Distinction" will identify in brief where we are headed beginning next school year:

  1. Laptop Initiative - a plan for technology integration for students in grades 7-12. Mr. Surran is moving to assume full-time the Systems Administrator position.
  2. Expanding the Fine Arts Program - Mr. Harris will be given more time/opportunity to develop this program which will add music ed/appreciation classes and drama to our current offerings.
  3. Staffing an "Assistant to the Head of School" position - Mr. Zimmerman will be assuming this role and fulfilling its responsibilities as assigned by the Headmaster.
  4. Offering both Reading and Mathematics Passport Learning Programs in our Learning Center under the direction of Mrs. Neureuther. Use of this service will be charged an extra fee.
  5. Offering a two-tiered diploma track option for high school students recognizing that a "one size doesn't fit all" philosophy.
  6. Developing a "Bullying Policy" for both elementary and secondary schools.
  7. Providing a standard of dress, academic expectation, and a code of conduct that promotes a greater sense of school pride, spirit and personal growth in the student's life here at GHCA. (Elementary Dress Code / Secondary Dress Code)
  8. Starting the accreditation process from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges beginning fall of 2008.
