APPLICATION

GHCA IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2008-2009 SCHOOL YEAR! Admission to Greater Houlton Christian Academy is obtained by written application, testing, personal interview. A child should be five years old on or before October 15th to be eligible for kindergarten. The Academy is not equipped to enroll students who have severe behavioral problems or who are significantly limited in academic ability. Students in grades 5 through 12 must also have a personal interview and a pastoral reference. All students will be tested for proper grade placement. Applications are available from our office. Click here to request an application to be mailed to you.

Enrollment takes place after your child has been accepted. Payment of the registration fee will hold a place for your child until July 1st. On either July 1st or August 1st you are to begin the tuition payment plan of your choice. The last payment for all students is June 1st.

NOTICE - GHCA currently has a cap of 20 students per grade level. We have already hit that cap in several classes. Students are enrolled at GHCA on a first-come, first-serve basis, so please do not put off the application phase of enrollment as you risk being placed on a waiting list if you do.

ENROLLMENT

In-house enrollment for students currently enrolled typically begins the first week of April, followed by new applications for students transfering to GHCA. The registration fee, shown below, must accompany the registration enrollment form.

Re-enrollment Registration Fee

  • $50.00 for 1st child ($100.00 after April 30)
  • $40.00 for each additional child ($80.00 after April 30)

New Enrollment

  • $100.00 for 1st child
  • $80.00 for each additional child

TUITION

The tuition rate for the 2008-2009 school year is $3,290 (except pre-kindergarten, which is $2,050). We do offer discounts for families enrolling more than one child - contact our office for specifics. The following payment plans are available:

  • Plan A - Monthly payments beginning July 1st and ending June 1st . For students enrolling late, the last tuition payment will still be due June 1st
  • Plan B - Two equal payments payable on July 1st and January 1st
  • Plan C - One full payment payable on August 1st.

The estimated cost to educate one child for the 2008-2009 school year is $4,500.00, therefore, we depend upon your commitment to assist with fundraising events to offset this added cost.

FAMILY PLAN

In an effort to alleviate some of the strain put on large families by the tuition costs, Greater Houlton Christian Academy offers the Family Plan to families with multiple students enrolled in GHCA at the same time. For actual numbers, please call our office at 207-532-0736 or email us at office@ghca.com.

LATE TUITION

Monthly tuition payments are late after the 10th of each month and will automatically be assessed a $10.00 late fee. If the tuition is not received by the 20th of that month, a notice will be sent to inform the parent(s) that tuition must be paid in ten days or the parents will be required to meet with a member of the finance committee and two other board members. This meeting will take place by the 10th of the following month. The decision made after this meeting will determine if the student will continue the privilege of attending GHCA.

TUITION AID

Tuition aid is available to allow some students whose families may not be able to afford full tuition an opportunity for a Christian school education. Re-enrolling families shall receive priority consideration through the first week of June, after which all tuition aid applications shall be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Tuition accounts must be current in order for an application to be considered. Tuition aid is not given to kindergarten children unless there are other children in the family attending the school. Subject to the limits of available funds and based upon the criteria of the program, decisions are made in the order in which applications are received. Forms may be obtained in the office beginning May 15 and returned to the attention of the TAP Committee. All tuition aid applications are strictly confidential.

MAINE CHILDREN'S SCHOLARSHIP FUND - This scholarship can be used to pay 75% of tuition up to the cap of $1700 at our school. Go to www.MeCSF.org to download applications, or visit our office for details!
