Conferences

A formal parent/teacher conference is scheduled in the fall of each year. The goal of conferences is to develop a mutually supportive home and school relationship in promoting student learning and character development. Additional conferences may be scheduled at the initiative of parents or teachers. If and when there is a problem in the classroom the teacher is to be contacted first before the administration.

Classroom Visitation

Parents are welcome to visit classes but prior arrangements with the teacher and office are requested.

Parent Involvement

Parents are encouraged to keep in touch with their child's teacher and to be involved in the educational process. Not doing the child's work, but encouraging them along the way is the key to their success.

NEW FOR 2005 - Parents Taking Ownership (PTO) - Parents are organized into five groups. These five groups make up the PTO. Each group is represented by a grade level couple who serve on the division committee. These five groups are: Early Childhood (PreK and K), Lower Elementary (1-3), Upper Elementary (4-6), Junior High (7-8) and High School (9-12). Each division has an administrative team leader who works with the parents. The purpose of the PTO groups are as varied as the needs of the school but usually include the planning of programs and events and the communication between parents and the school for ideas and suggestions. The Headmaster may call for a school-wide PTO meeting throughout the school year as an open forum for parents and principal to share ideas and seek input.

Contacting Teachers

Teachers can be reached during the school day by calling the office and leaving a message with the secretary. Teachers will return the call at their convenience. Teachers may also utilize a new feature of our website called a blog to communicate with parents regarding classroom activities, etc.
