ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Awards Assembly

Awards and acknowledgments are presented to all students in the elementary to honor those who excel in academic and school activities and to encourage students who demonstrate Christian character qualities and display those qualities that make them unique and special in our eyes and the eyes of God.

Chapel

Chapel is held once a week. Boys are to come to school wearing a tie. Girls are to come to school wearing skirts or dresses. Offerings are received to help Christian ministries selected by the student body and faculty. Special all-school (Pre K - 12) chapels are held at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. Parents are always welcome to attend all chapel services.

Choir

This group of all elementary students rehearses during the school day and performs for special occasions. Student participation at rehearsals and performances is a program requirement.

Class Activities / Field Trips

Seasonal activities and field trips are scheduled by the teacher and are planned cooperatively with the homeroom mothers. Chaperones and drivers are asked not to bring any other children. A half-day is planned for one class picnic at the end of the year. Field trip forms will be sent home to explain the objective and details of the trip.

Recess

Children are not permitted to stay in from recess without a written note from the parents. In case of inclement weather, recess in the gym and/or classroom is supervised.

Library

Elementary students have full access to the Cary Library and are taken on scheduled visits throughout the year by their teachers.

Computer Lab

Elementary classes frequently reserve the computer lab for activities with their teachers. Upper elementary students may also be allowed to use the lab on their own for academic purposes.

Grandparent's Day

A classroom visitation day to honor our students' grandparents is held each year. Due to limited space, we request that only grandparents or "adopted" grandparents attend.

Aerospace Science Lab

Students interested in the field of aviation and space technology are encouraged to use the lab with the scheduling coordination of the teacher and the Aerospace Science Lab director. To learn more about our aerospace lab, click this link.

The Lighthouse Learning Center

Parents of students using the Lighthouse Learning Center will be notified by the School Counselor of the details involving reasons, times, and progress. The center is designed to be of help to those that may require special accommodations in academics.

Physical Education

Sneakers and school adopted PE clothes must be worn at all times. Failure to do so on a consistent basis will affect the grade. Elementary physical education classes are held in the gym during the winter months and during inclement weather. Children are not permitted in the gym without permission.

Student Phone use

Students may use the office phone to call home for special-urgent type situations.
